TECH:T-Mobile Offers Free Calling to/from Haiti – Even For Customers Roaming in Haiti

0 Comments 14 January 2010

By Michael Oryl

Earlier this evening T-Mobile USA announced that it would not charge for calls made to or received from Haiti in an effort to help those involved in the earthquake crisis. The free calling to Haiti for T-Mobile USA customers will extend through the end of this month, and will also be applied retroactively to calls made on January 12th.

On top of that, T-Mobile USA customers who are now roaming internationally in Haiti can make and receive calls free of charge as well, avoiding the normal international calling fees. This will be a real benefit for aid workers and those trying to track down family and friends still living in Haiti.

T-Mobile USA has also pledged to aid the country with telecommunications equipment, including generators and phones, to help rebuild the its wireless infrastructure.
