BRASILIA, Brazil (PennWell) — Brazil will help build a hydroelectric power project in Haiti, Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said.

The president recently visited Haiti to meet with Haitian President Rene Preval.

Brazil already has sent R$375 million (US$206 million) to Haiti in addition to the US$15 million foreseen by a recovery plan to help rebuild the country, Business News Americas reported.

According to Brazil’s president, the hydroelectric power plant should be built by Brazilian companies.
