It looks like the HTC’s Google Android-powered Dream phone has been spotted.

One of my super secret spies at Google just happened to trade contact information with someone who admitted that the phone in his hand was the fabled Dream.
It says that the the official release date of the Android-powered T-Mobile Dream is on the 23 of this month.
Most of the details of the plans and specs are publicly available in various spots around the blogosphere, as are some leaked photos, but it would appear that there are a few of these roaming the wild and in regular use, as the fellow in question appeared to be his primary phone.

Despite their seemingly innocent names, Tropical Storm Fay and hurricanes Gustav and Hanna left a trail of destruction as they swept across Haiti in the space of just eight days in late August. Rocked by years of civil war and political instability, the stricken Caribbean island is ill equipped to deal with the consequences of this latest tragedy.
According to official figures a total of 326 people have been killed and 50 injured during Haiti’s hurricane season to date. But with many towns and villages still submerged by water, the likelihood is that the death toll will rise in the next few weeks.
One man who has resolved to do something to alleviate the situation is Haitian-born actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, a star of the American TV series Heroes and one of the country’s most famous ambassadors since the hit show was first broadcast in 2006. Born in Petionville, a suburb of the capital city Port-au-Prince, Jimmy earned stardom the hard way, squatting in flats in Paris and taking on menial jobs all over Europe before making a name for himself in Hollywood.
Although a symbol of success for Haiti’s youngsters, he has never forgotten his roots and is dismayed at the latest disaster to befall his homeland. “It’s hard to raise a smile at the moment,” he tells FIFA.com. “Our island had enough troubles as it was. We didn’t need nature to come along and make it worse.”

Congressional delegation surveys hurricane devastated Haiti; highlights need for additional U.S. aid and for temporary protected status for Haitians in U.S.
Washington D.C. Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (D-MD), Congressman Kendrick B. Meek (D-FL), and Congresswoman Yvette D. Clark (D-NY) traveled to Haiti to see firsthand the situation there after four devastating hurricanes hit the country in the last several weeks, including the latest Hurricane Ike. The Congressmembers, along with several others, have signed onto a request by Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) for immediate disaster relief for Haiti. They also called on the Bush Administration to grant temporary protected status (TPS) for Haitians in the U.S. to enable them to send money and aid back to their country. To date, the Administration has ignored requests for TPS for Haitians. According to the very preliminary estimates, over 600 people are dead and tens of thousands are homeless in the impoverished country as a direct result of these four major storms.
Rep. Edwards released the following statement:
“Hurricane Ike left its damaging mark from the Caribbean to Texas and Louisiana. My thoughts and prayers go out to the storm’s latest victims in Texas and Louisiana. The Congress will make certain that sufficient resources are available for relief, recovery and rebuilding of these devastated areas.

Haiti: Rewind
September 18th to 30th
Vernissage / Opening: September 19th, 7 pm
MFA Gallery: 1395 René Lévesque West, Montreal
Photo/video exhibition on Haiti
A new exhibition by Montreal artist, photographer and Citizenshift contributor Darren Ell is set to open on September 18th. Ell’s exhibition, Haiti: Rewind, was created as a response to Canadian, French and U.S. policy in Haiti and comprises material drawn from Ell’s visits to Haiti between 2006 and 2008. The photo exhibition exposes the role of these three powers in the destabilization and subsequent overthrow of the popular government of Jean-Bertrand Aristide in February 2004.
The photo exhibition looks at the consequences of the overthrow of the elected government, an event with which the Haitian people are living to this day. It questions the purported benevolence of the United Nations force that has been the predominant power in Haiti since 2004.

I admit majority of news that comes out of Haiti is usually negative and sadly it over shadows Haiti’s positives but here are a few pictures of Haiti’s true beauty from a recent trip. Note, there’s darkness everywhere you look, from your family, to your country, friends and etc. but if you take the time to truly look for yourself and understand the situation you’ll see there’s always light and there’s always hope.
